Why We Love Harwelden Mansion

There are some venues that are beautiful before you bring a single flower, linen, or rental through the door, and Harwelden Mansion is absolutely one of them.

Located right in the heart of Tulsa, Harwelden is a historic mansion filled with gorgeous architecture, beautiful grounds, and the kind of character you simply cannot recreate in a traditional event space. Built in 1923 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it has more than a century of history behind it, and you can feel that the second you walk through the doors.

As Tulsa wedding planners, we get to work in so many incredible spaces, but Harwelden will always be one of our favorites.

A Wedding Venue That Already Feels Special

One of our favorite things about planning a wedding at Harwelden is that you don't have to completely transform the space to make it feel elevated.

The architecture does so much of the work for you.

The beautiful staircase, original details, gardens, intament rooms, and classic exterior give you an incredible foundation to design around. Instead of trying to cover up a blank ballroom, we get to create a design that complements what's already there.

And for our brides who love a wedding that feels romantic, intentional, timeless, and just a little different, it is hard to beat.

It's Made for the Details

Harwelden is especially beautiful when the design feels intentional. This is where we shine.

This is where gorgeous florals, thoughtfully selected rentals, beautiful stationery, layered linens, custom signage, and all of those tiny details really shine. Because the mansion already has such a distinct personality, we love designing weddings here that feel elevated without competing with the space.

The goal isn't to make Harwelden look like a completely different venue.

It's to take everything that's already special about it and make it feel completely like you.

Where a Good Plan Really Matters

Historic venues are incredible, but they also come with logistics that need to be thought through carefully.

Harwelden has multiple rooms, multiple levels, historic features that need to be protected, specific guidelines for vendors and décor, and several different spaces that may be used throughout the day.

And this is exactly the kind of wedding we love.

We think through how guests will move from one part of the day to the next, where vendors need to be and when, how setup will happen, when spaces need to be transitioned, and all of the tiny timing details happening behind the scenes.

Because your guests should just think, wow, this is beautiful.

They don't need to know about the 47 things that happened behind the scenes to make it feel that way.

It Feels Like Tulsa, in the Best Way

We also love that Harwelden doesn't feel like a venue you could pick up and place in any city.

It feels distinctly Tulsa.

The historic architecture, established grounds, and location give it a sense of place that makes a wedding there feel even more special. For couples hosting guests from out of town, it gives them a chance to experience a beautiful piece of Tulsa history while celebrating with you.

And there is something pretty incredible about knowing your wedding is becoming one tiny piece of a property that has been part of Tulsa for more than 100 years.
